How to DIY Repair Cracked Screen Glass Only Replacement with Glue!
How to Replace Cracked Screen Glass Flawlessly Without Any Special Equipment. How to Install New Glass With Glue Flawlessly.
Lately, there were 2 customers who expressed difficulty with the gluing process one of which I made a video about in the shorts.
I wanted to make this video to clear up any confusion/misunderstanding.
In my opinion, it is super easy to achieve a perfect, factory spec repair with Stronghold LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive)

How the fuck is the oled panel itself not dying?????
How long will this realistically take for someone who has never done this before and wants to make sure they do it right?
Can you remove ans replace glass on iphones without having to open up the phone?
While it is technically possible, it's easier and safer to open up the phone and do the glass removal.
Hi. Would the iphone 14 pro repair kit work with the iphone 15 pro?
No, it wouldn't but we will have the kit for an iPhone 15 Pro in the next couple of days. The method is the same. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,
@@ecdiy Thanks for the reply. Could you reply to this comment at the time it is available?
Why do you cut the glue? Just flip it and unscrew the other side...?
the way you present your ideas always blows me away! ️
Hello, I was wondering if i could use the glue on a Privacy Screen protector instead of a normal screen protector, do you think itll work?
Hmmm. I haven't personally tried it but it should work, there are UV glue applied privacy screen protectors. Best regards,
What kind of liquid solution you use? Thanks.
Broke my screen this morning. Dammit. This looks like the best kit out right now, just ordered one!
Hello, do all screen protectors work with UV glue, or are these special glasses?
When it comes to curved tempered glass screen protectors, the conventional silicone based adhesive where all you have to do is line up the protector and press in the center to have the adhesive bonding throughout is not applicable. When it comes to curved tempered glass screen protectors, you would find that they either have adhesive along the edges only, or rely on liquid glue for full adhesion. There are some protectors that uses a thicker silicone pad, but this comes at the cost of the glass being considerably thinner, making it more prone to damage. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,
@@ecdiy Thanks ! I have a iphone 14 pro, and the only place i find someting with UV is aliexpress. The protectors that comes are always without a black border. Here at home i still have glue, and other protectors with black border, but dont know if i can use with the glue. Greetings from Belgium
@@janvolckaert7704 For iPhones, and all flat display phones for that matter, there is no need for the UV glue. The conventional protector adhesive as mentioned above work just fine. You can use the UV glue if you want, but it is completely un-necessary. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further. Have a great rest of the day! Greetings from Canada.
@@ecdiy i have so much little scratches on the screen, with the glue, is like new. So i can use any screenprotector with UV glue if i understand you. Thanks in advance for the help.
Liquid glue name plz.. anybody know which glue use?
It is called Stronghold LOCA. LOCA stands for Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive, there are several options but please kindly note many LOCAs require a separate UV lamp to cure. Ours is specially formulated to be hypersensitive to UV, so much so that exposure to daylight on a cloudy winter day is enough to cure the glue. Other parameters such as contractility, tensile strength and viscosity have all been fine tuned over the years for optimum results. Please note there are a few sellers infringing on our trademark, Stronghold LOCA is developed by us and is exclusive to us. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,

Right to repair y'all. Love this, why waste a perfectly good display and like you said if you are contemplating repair at a shop not many do this and if they do it's basically as expensive as a whole new display which is half the damn phone nearly. Sure it's time consuming but money is tight and worst case you were gunner get it fixed anyway most people. ❤
Fix my iphone 14 pro Bro
Bro i have a s21 but i want to ask about batery when i unplug charger from 100% goes 97 within 4 min but i get 5 hours sot do you know if batery neeeds to be replace
That's hard to say, could be other hardware/app issues not related to the battery health. There's also no guarantee that the new battery would be any better in a sense that a lot, if not most of the batteries on the market are used batteries wrapped to look like new. I'm sorry I'm not able to provide you with a clear answer. Best regards,
Had to make a funny face
hey, i just did this and at the part of the video where u put the sticker on the screen to "uv light" the area around the fingerprint sensor i did the same thing, but when i finished it all it left an outline of the sticker on the phone, can i fix it somehow?
Assuming it is just adhesive transfer from the sticker, you should be able to wipe it clean with isopropyl alcohol or any glass cleaner. Hope that helps! Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,
Thanks a million for the fingerprint tip cause when i first installed the uv screen protector i had to be pressing hard on the screen to get it to unlock and was moving slow to do so. Thanks again.
So happy that the information I shared was able to help you! Thank you for letting me know.

Pity you speak so fast
thanks, bro! now fingerprint sensor works perfectly! you're a life savior!
Amazing! So happy to have been of some help! Thank you so much for letting me know.
I just bought one of your kits. But I'm wondering... is there any chance of the phone still being water resistant after this repair? Would happily hear from someone who knows. Reddit is all over the place. Thanks in advance.
Great question! Technically speaking, under proper installation, the phone should still maintain its water resistance. The tape adhesive used to seal it is indeed the original-grade IP68 adhesive. However, the reality is the level of water resistance achieved will depend on the installation. Both the mating surfaces need to be squeaky clean, free of debris, and good amount of pressure is required. (Applying heat helps also) While the factory-specified water resistance, which is 5ft submersion for 30 minutes is possible, it may not be easy for a novice, and the resulting water resistance may be reduced to the point where it can only withstand regular splashes or drops of water (for example, IPX1~IPX5). If you are curious as to what they mean, Googling "IPX ratings", you will find a helpful article written by Audioreputation with specific details for each rating. Ultimately, it's important to note that cracked screens are not water resistant either. So, when it comes to replacing cracked front glass, there isn't anything to lose in terms of water resistance.
@@ecdiy "cracked screens are not water resistant either" makes a lot of sense. Also, I had not given any thought to how clean the surfaces must be in order to get the best water resistance, very good point. Thank You for the informative response.
Lesson learned from this video: never buy a curved screen phone again.
Pretty much. I meant to do a side-by-side comparison video, but curved screens indeed make the glass more fragile. While flat glass can flex when the phone is dropped, dissipating impacts, curved glass can't. Curved glass can twist a bit, but due to the curved sides acting more or less as the side members of an I-beam compared to flat metal, it's more rigid. It's kind of like the difference between how trees snap but grass is fine after a strong wind.
How much to fix the glass on an iPhone 14 Pro Max?
We don't offer repair as a service, but I do occasionally give repairs away for content.
Will you still repair for people?
I will be doing another giveaway soon! Are you by any chance in need of a repair? If so, which phone do you have?
@@ecdiy I have the 14 ProMax Gold, Yes I need the front glass replaced like in this video.
Hey man, thanks for the video. You gotta fix your website link in the description. Maybe it's just me but I'm unable to click it which means you don't get your cut if we buy anything. You deserve it so make sure that's a hyperlink. Thanks again!!

Metal can scratch plastic Guess what’s made out of plastic The AMOLED 🤯
Thank you for your comment! In our detailed long form LOCA video guide, we show how it fills even microscopic scratches perfectly so it is not visible even at close inspection looking directly at the screen. When used correctly, OCA blade does not scratch more than a standard wire tool. Also, please kindly note that for DIYers, we recommend using the OCA blade only to create the initial opening for the wire tool and in places when the wire tool gets stuck. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Have a great rest of the day!
My installation screwed up... So I have some questions for future viewers' reference. 1. How do you deal with bubbles that show up from the screen being put on, even though there were no bubbles in the liquid? 2. After failing to install the screen, how do you safely clean up a phone covered in the glue?
Could you let me know if this happened with our protector? If it did, happy to send you a replacement tube of glue as a courtesy. Also, would you by any chance have a photo of the bubble? The glue used for screen protector installation is so "thin" (low viscosity) that it typically there isn't enough of uneven-ness nor surface tension to trap air when the glass is lowered, but in the future you may choose to lower the glass slowly one side at a time to avoid the possibility of bubbles. In any case, you can simply wipe the screen with isopropyl alcohol or any glass cleaner to remove the glue. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,
This applies to iphone 15?
Yes it does, and I'll be uploading a video on it soon. iPhone 15 series does have a thinner display holder bezel (part directly attached underneath the glass along the parameter of the display) but as long as you apply the same steps shown in the video, the display should come up without damage. Other than the bezel, there really isn't any difference in the process. Best regards,
I failed my first attempt on my samsung galaxy note 10 but a couple of months later I tried again with my old s8 and I got the glass off now I just need a new glass because I only have the one for my note 10
Curved screens are definitely more finicky than flat screens due to the multiple angles involved. This is emphasized in our listing for curved screen phones as well. iPhones in particular are the easiest of the flat screens with the display coming off without the bezel surrounding the sides of the display panel allowing for easy entry for the wire without rubbing on the bezel. Flat display also means all the glass sits parallel to the display with the adhesive in between which makes slicing through (the adhesive) a lot easier. Anyhow, did you happen to purchase a kit from us? If so, I'd be happy to send you the S8 glass at our cost which would be pretty much an unbeatable price for the quality of the glass we offer. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,
@@ecdiy I already bought a glass off of amazon which isnt the best but it works because I mostly use this phone for custom roms, but thanks for the offer!

Someone knows why my brightness is so pretty low on my 14PM after changing the screen for another original Apple screen? (didn’t transferred the IC or ambient light sensor)
Unless something changed recently, replacing the screen as a whole, even with a genuine Apple display off of another phone does disable auto brightness as well as "True Tone" Replacing the glass only is the only way to avoid error messages & loss of original display functions without getting into micro-soldering the IC sensor over which in my opinion, is more technical than the glass only replacement. If anyone else could chime in, that would be greatly appreciated!
What was that black jelly thing you put the phone on
It's our re-usable gel pad which keeps the device still during the process. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,
Hi, do you have a tutorial specifically for 11 Pro Max, there’s something about the bezel replacement I’m not understanding. Just bought the kit but I don’t want to attempt before I get clear instructions.
Hello, thank you very much for choosing us! For iPhone X~11 Pro MAX, the bezel does need to be removed as noted in the listing. We do provide a separate guide for iPhone X~11 to cover the bezel removal, but the process otherwise is the same. The information can be found on our latest updates page (bit.ly/expresscelldepot) As a side note, this is also mentioned in the link above but remember to keep the wire tight and pinned low (to the work surface) when entering the corner so that the wire is tight against the glass. This ensures you separate the adhesive layer directly between the front glass and the rest of the display. I thought I had emphasized this point well in the video, as well as in the "must read" section of the updates page above, but we just had a customer not notice it and make the mistake today. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Have a great rest of the day!

one question, does these kinds of repair will help with dead touchscreen zones?
For any display issues including touch issues, unfortunately you'd need to replace the display as a whole. Replacing the glass layer will not resolve the issue. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,
This makes me so happy thank you for this!
Good job
Confidence lol.
Did you ever make that tutorial on how to use the LOCA to seal up cracks on your phone before you do the full repair?
Not yet! On the newer devices it seems like the glass has a different chemical composition. The refractive index is different and the glue doesn't seep into the cracks as well. We're still tinkering with it.
Can you anwser this quick? i have an ipad pro 2018 11 inch with a cracked touch screen, the lcd works perfectly fine aswell for the touch, i found a replacement glass on amazon for 35 bucks, would this work on my ipad?
So sorry for the delay. Just not sure why I don't get these notifications. It just stopped after the 26th for whatever reason. Anyhow, to answer your question, but yes, it will work. However please note that this is an outdated method. Our newer method of using a wire tool along with the OCA blade works better. For a screen that size, you'd want 4x gel pads. Best regards,
@@ecdiy Alright, I'll check it out for sure.
Bout to use my FDM printer as a hot plate xD
If the glass breaks again, is the process the same? Will UV glue be more difficult to remove?
The process is the same and UV glue will actually be easier to remove. I'm going to make a video soon on refurbishing a refurbished display using our kit, but you'll see that you don't really need heat, and the adhesive doesn't roll off like shown in the video, it kind of just smudges off if that makes any sense? It can be pretty disappointing learning that the phone manufacturers did not have to use such strong adhesive for the original assembly.
@@ecdiy Will you record how to use your set on large screens, for example iPad pro?
Do you have any glasses for the Asus Zenfone 8?
Unfortunately no, not at the moment. I apologize for the inconvenience this may bring.
Is the glass you're selling the same one used in the S10+? (Corning Gorilla Glass 6)
We purchase our glass as originals, but to our understanding, it is not possible to confirm that it is indeed Gorilla glass even with a spectroradiometer and the brand does not participate in authenticating parts nor do they sell the glass part on their own. Our glass is made of aluminosilicate glass which is technically speaking, what Gorilla glass is but what also makes it difficult to confirm is that between different generations of Gorilla glass, it's not just the chemical composition that has changed, but the manufacturing process that reduces defects. (All glass products, like diamonds, have tiny microscopic defects). However, we have done various tests including break tests to know that our glass is comparable to the original take-off. Most glasses found online these days are soda lime glass, or low iron soda lime glass made to look like aluminosilicate glass and there is a big price difference. If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Best regards,
Is uv tempered glass available for normal display (not curved display) ? Please reply me 🥺🥺
It is, but it's kind of pointless. The conventional silicone based adhesive where all you have to do is peel the film, line up the protector, and press in the center to see the adhesive bonding throughout, is available for all flat protectors. I personally don't see any advantage of UV glue over this. If I'm missing something, please let me know. You'd go the UV route for curved screens because the current technology does not allow the silicone based adhesive to be applied to curved glasses without forming bubbles when it is installed on the phone. Best regards,
I really like this guy and he was very helpful, however, when it came to the real world this is what happened... Followed the instruction to the T. My original screen failed, touchscreen offline. And I was well aware how brittle and took utmost care when removing the outer glass. I didn't see many people being successful with this product either. Was intrested to try and the good thing I got out of it was the tools. Thank you for the guide, it was really helpful.
Would you by any chance be willing to share where it went wrong? I recently had novices try out this repair on site to see if there would be any common errors; #1 was not keeping the wire tight and low as it enters each corner. It needs to be low so that it is touching the glass layer as it slices into the glue layer as mentioned in the video @4:20 #2 was not cleaning the screen to be squeaky clean, thereby the transfer of the oil/smudge/dirt on the screen making the gel pad less sticky (can be cleaned to restore) Pretty much in line with some of the customers who had contacted us after an unsuccessful repair. For #1, even after I had advised them of this, it seemed by the time they got around to the other side, they needed to be reminded. Also, we're getting stronger and larger gel pads made to allow for more room for error when it comes to #2. A longer guide with repeated emphasis on this is being prepared as well as a helpful tip in having a helper hold the hairdryer/heat gun as that makes it so much easier so you don't have to switch hands between that and a wire tool but I would love to hear from you. Ultimately, I want everyone to be able to succeed replacing the glass only. I do not benefit in any way shape or form when someone fails. I do not even have other parts to sell when someone fails. There are quite a few repeat customers/customers who order the refills and I would imagine those who decide to get into this don't want others getting into it. Any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us.
on my s21 i got small screen burnt from app and to get rid i need to replace the whole screen but is there way to do it without replacing screen?
To my understanding, screen burns are not fixable unless you replace the display as a whole. There are videos that you can put on to wear out all the pixels a bit and it supposedly reduces the look of the screen burn but I have not tried it. Any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further. Best regards,
